Who We Are

The Informatics and Computational Neurotheology (ICONUT) Research Group sits at the dynamic intersection of data science, advanced computing, and cognitive neuroscience. Our mission is to decode the complex computational structures underlying human cognitive states, spiritual experiences, and neurological processing.

Driven by the lack of local high-end neuroimaging hardware, our methodology innovates by leveraging publicly available global neuroimaging datasets (including fMRI and EEG repositories), advanced statistical modeling, and large-scale psychometric surveying. By applying rigorous machine learning algorithms and data analytics to these datasets, we map the neural correlates of belief systems and cognitive processing styles.

Professor Mukaila Alade Rahman

Principal Investigator & Group Director

Professor Mukaila Alade Rahman is a distinguished Professor of Computer Science at the Faculty of Computing and Information Technology (FOCIT), Lagos State University (LASU). He holds a B.Sc., M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Computer Science, and is a celebrated two-time Fellow of The World Academy of Sciences (TWAS), Italy. His multidisciplinary research portfolio spans Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and the niche frontier of Computational Neurotheology, extracting structural insights to solve pressing health and cognitive puzzles.
